Oatmeal
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 4 cups water or (plantbased) milk
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup (frothed) milk (optional, for serving)
Caramelized apples
- 3 large (green) apples (either peeled or not, then cubed)
- 1-2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
Add oats, water or (plantbased) milk, salt and cinnamon to a medium sauce pan on medium heat. Keep an eye on it and occasionally stir until the oats are soft and creamy. Add a bit of maple syrup to the oats once they are ready and stir.
To another saucepan, add the cubed apples, cinnamon and maple syrup. Prepare the apples at the same time as the oats. Cook the apples on medium to low heat and stir occasionally until the apples are soft and syrupy.
Add a quarter of the softened apples to the oats and stir to combine it all.
Divide the oats over 4 bowls and top it with the remaining apples. Optionally, you can add a splash of frothed milk to each bowl.
